Georgia has undergone deregulation of the natural gas utility industry. Atlanta Gas Light Company continues to operate its pipeline systems in Butts County and throughout much of Georgia, but residential and commercial customers purchase natural gas from a variety of providers, or marketers. The marketers set their own prices and arrange for the sale and distribution of gas to their own customers; however, they use Atlanta Gas Light’s pipelines to deliver the gas.
